DIY Fabric Face Mask
Materials Needed:
- Scissors
- Pins
- Thread
- Sewing machine
- Ruler
- Elastic
- Cotton fabric with a tight weave (like quilting cotton)
Tips:
Mask should not be constructed from tightly woven materials and it should not have any stretch.Recommendation:
Pillow cases and high count sheets can be used for making mask.Does your fabric work ?
A simple way to check if your fabric works or not is by being able to breathe if you hold it over your mouth and you shouldn't be able to see through the fabric.
Instructions
Step 1. Cut two cotton rectangle and stitch them together, 9 inch wide and 12 inch long
Step 2. Cut two 7 inch long pieces of elastic
Step 3. Fold fabric in half
Step 4. Pin and sew 1/4th inch seam from the edge leaving a 2 inch gap in the center.
Step 5. Put elastic ban on each corner(inside the material) and pin to keep in place.
Step 6. Mark locations for pleats and add pins on both sides.
Step 7. Fold three pleats and sew around the entire perimeter of the mask.
Finally remove the pins and you can now wear your mask.
Even better make a bunch so you can distribute them if there are any shortages in the market.
Step 5. Put elastic ban on each corner(inside the material) and pin to keep in place.

Step 7. Fold three pleats and sew around the entire perimeter of the mask.
Finally remove the pins and you can now wear your mask.
